The Latin American Jewish Studies Association (LAJSA) has announced that Dr. Debora Kantor, of the Escuela de Arte y Patrimonio (EyAP) at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín, is the recipient of the Edna Aizenberg Research Award 2026.
The award recognizes her project, “Jewish Refugee Artists in the Argentine Film Industry During World War II: Individual Trajectories, Solidarity Networks and Political Affinities.” The research examines the experiences of Jewish refugee artists in Argentina during the Second World War, highlighting their creative contributions to the film industry as well as the solidarity networks that supported them during a period of displacement and global upheaval.
The award will support Dr. Kantor’s archival research at the Center for Jewish History and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where she will further investigate the transnational connections and histories of these artists.
LAJSA congratulated Dr. Kantor on this achievement and wished her success in her forthcoming archival fieldwork.
