LAJSA invites proposals for Working Groups, intended to foster sustained collaboration among scholars, students, and practitioners around shared intellectual interests and research agendas. Working Groups will receive official recognition on the LAJSA website, and their activities will be promoted through our social media and other communication outlets.
Working Groups may be organized around:
- A common research topic or theme
- A particular author or body of scholarship
- A disciplinary or methodological approach
- Collaborative research projects
- The development of conference panels, workshops, or publications
- Other topics relevant to Latin American Jewish Studies
- A manuscript project or an edited journal issue
Each Working Group proposal should include:
Title of the Working Group
Brief Description
(approximately 250–500 words) explaining the focus of the group and what brings participants together intellectually or professionally.
List of at least three coordinators/members
who will be responsible for organizing and sustaining the group’s activities, including:
- Coordinating online meetings
- Writing and circulating invitations and announcements
- Organizing activities and communications
- Serving as points of contact for the group
One-Year Plan of Action
Outlining the group’s proposed activities for the coming year (for example: online meetings, reading groups, collaborative research initiatives, conference panels, workshops, publications, or public events).

Working Groups are encouraged to meet regularly and to create opportunities for collaboration and exchange across institutions, disciplines, and geographic locations. Priority will be given to proposals with these characteristics.
