The LAJSA Treasurer serves on the Executive Board and oversees the association’s financial affairs for a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment.
Responsibilities
- The Treasurer is the custodian of LAJSA’s financial accounts and oversees all finance, budgeting, and tax matters. They are responsible for annual IRS tax filings and state business registration, as well as facilitating and recording LAJSA’s financial transactions.
- The Treasurer is a member of LAJSA’s Executive Board where their role is to recommend annual membership dues, conference registration fees, and prepare an annual financial statement for review by the Co-Presidents and Board of Directors.
- The Treasurer serves on the Conference Planning Committee for LAJSA’s biennial Research Conferences where their role is to create the conference budget, set the registration fees, and oversee the collection and disbursement of all conference related payment. During conference years, the Treasurer also serves as chair of the Kovadloff Travel Award Committee
QualificationsÂ
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Active engagement in the field of Latin American Jewish Studies
- US citizenship (required for legal, financial, and bureaucratic purposes)

Candidates must be current individual members of LAJSA.
